System Verification Summership - A Journey of Growth

Summership at a glance

In a rapidly advancing technological landscape, internships have become a vital part of shaping young and ambitious individuals looking to establish a successful career path. The System Verification Summership offers an experience that goes beyond a regular internship program. It is an opportunity to undertake a transformative journey of growth, collaboration, and personal development. The internship itself fosters a dynamic learning environment where interns become active contributors from the very beginning. Rather than being overwhelmed with tasks, interns have a chance to work alongside experienced professionals and gain hands-on experience that allows them to apply their knowledge and enhance their skills.

Meet Maida and Svitlana

We are very proud of the great collaboration we continue to have with EC Utbildning in Malmö and good examples of that, are our new colleagues Maida and Svitlana, who recently graduated from EC Utbildning in Malmö. To get to know them a bit better, we asked them a few questions.

The brains behind our fun challenges...Bug hunter & Solve a Problem

Every once in a while we host and share games and events for our QA network to attend for challenging themselves within our field. Two of those challenges are Solve a problem and Bug hunter. Sometimes we host them during specific events to take part in IRL at a job fair for example, and sometimes we host them on our website and social media.
To make the most fun and challenging activities to share with you, we have to use highly creative and skilled people (and we have lots of those people in our company).
So let us introduce two of the brains behind some of the challenges - Mille and Selma!

December initiatives

As many of you already know, System Verification is not only a kick-ass niched QA company but also a company filled with caring individuals with the need and wish to help others.

During the year, with different kinds of initiatives, we gave our take topositively contribute to a better society, whether through a competition, where our winning employees got the opportunity to choose an organization to support with the prize money, simply raising money for a joint purpose, or something completely different. What matters the most is that this way of living, the need of supporting others among us is a part of us all, and we are very proud of what we can achieve together.

Movember - Movement for a better cause

For all our System Verification offices, November is a month full of activity. Traditionally, we choose this month to be full of events and movement, but we also gave it a special meaning due to a greater cause connected to it. We named it Movember - as a lot of other initiatives, but with an extra mening into the ''move''- part.

Movement is a very important part of well-being. Doing all sorts of activities, whether they are exercise or a simple afternoon walk, we take care of our health, and make our life more joyful. But what if we use that initiative, connect the dots, and work both on our health and also as a way to help others? November is the month when people worldwide take a moment to acknowledge the fight against prostate cancer.
We are all aware of the fact that this year has been a tough one for the people of Ukraine, and we wanted to niche ourselves even more and help cancer victims and their loved ones in the shadow of the war - both men and women, of Ukraine. So that is exactly what we did.

The Opportunity of Web Accessibility

Initiating our first internal project at System Verification Germany

In these digital times, it’s all about new technologies, speeding up processes, gathering information easily, and managing our duties as fast as we can in just one click - anytime and everywhere we want. Since usability is stated as crucial for digital success, we are all experiencing its benefits and advantages.

Sounds great, doesn’t it? Well, not to everyone.

Due to disability, a large number of people are excluded from these advantages and thus, are excluded from our new digital society. Web Accessibility is not only necessary for about 30% of the people, but also part of human rights. Therefore, the EU enacted accessibility regulations: the EN 301459 including the Web Content Accessibility Guideline, which precisely states how to meet compliance with these regulations. The German government integrated this regulation and added 38 issues to the existing 60 WCAG guidelines in the BITV. Since these 98 aspects mentioned, cover a wide range of topics and we as a QA Company are driven by continuously improving software and expanding our knowledge, we decided to take the BITV test ourselves.

HR team in Amsterdam

During the 19th and 20th of October, our global HR team visited the HRCoreAcademy Summit, live in Amsterdam! An HR conference with HR leaders participating from different countries and companies with a common focus on the topics of Learning & Development and Talent Transformation.

Last year we took part in this conference as well, however, due to the pandemic, it was held digitally. We were therefore really excited to be part of it live this year and get the chance to meet and connect with other HR professionals to share inspiration, challenges and learnings. Even though company sizes and branches might differ a lot, still, the topics and insights you get from each other are of great value. It gave us ideas on how to improve and do differently in some areas but also a confirmation that we do a really good job in several areas already.

I am your worst nightmare - Let us talk about something scary!

I have said it before and I hate to say it again, but I have been working for 25 years in the software industry, but I have seen fairly small improvements over the years. It has been said that it is a young discipline and therefore it is prone to failure, and everyone needs to learn from their mistakes. Over the years a number of different methods, tools, processes, etc. have been presented to help us improve but still I hear more stories about projects that have quality problems and run over budget and time, compared to projects that succeed to meet their initial frames.
