Two days of new insights at Testforum 2024

On October 15-16, it was time again for the annual conference Testforum, arranged by NFI, in Stockholm. A large number of people from the industry, the public sector, and academia attended the conference to listen to 14 presentations covering different aspects of testing.

Even though it was not mentioned in the program, you could see a red thread through many of the presentations this year, i.e. AI and machine learning. Some presentations were more generic and provided an overview of where we are today and the future challenges, while others were more specific about how you could use Chat GPT to help you create your test strategy or use AI to improve your GUI testing.

An interesting presentation was provided by Jens Henriksson from King, who presented their test automation journey with a focus on testing on mobile devices. Security testing was another interesting topic that was covered and another how DevSecOps includes the security aspects as a part of the application life cycle model.

System Verification was represented by Dr. Magnus C Ohlsson, who presented the work by another colleague, Adha Hrusto. The topic of the presentation was in line with both the red thread of machine learning and the DevSecOps aspect. It showed how you can create autonomous filters in your production environments to detect anomalies before problems escalate and cause more severe problems, including cascading alerts. It was a more technical presentation compared to the other ones on the same topic but it hopefully provided some insights and ideas of how you can apply machine learning in another way compared to generative AI discussions.

Overall, it was an interesting conference with many interesting discussions!
