THE QUALITY BLOG
Explaining how testing works requires more than a blog post but in order to explain better how testing functions to an audience interested in working in the QA industry, our colleagues with many years of experience have prepared step-by-step situations and stories that will undoubtedly benefit each of you. This time, we got one of the crucial things for all future IT technicians in the field of quality assurance if you want to produce admirable work with good results.
This year's spring competition is over and we could not have had more fun. This year we invited our closest partners Reeinvent and Codescene to participate in the fun and they could not have done better! Reeinvent's team The Slowcookers won it all! And we kindly regret that we gave them the ironic name now that we see the end results. A big congratulations to you!
Last week we hosted a gaming event for our QA-network in Stockholm at the largest gaming center - SPACE - Contemporary Digital Culture Center. In the same building, just a few floors over are also where the Stockholm office is located. We are proud to have a strong collaboration with SPACE and enjoy having access to the gaming space occasionally.
Starting your first work experience might be challenging and stressful, especially if you have mentors with many years of experience and want to present yourself in the best version possible. When you step into a completely new version of the working industry after college, you may have no idea what to expect or offer from your background knowledge. The expectations are high, but how can you learn and apply everything correctly? Turning fear into a challenge is one of our ways of helping new colleagues and interns to overcome their fears and anxieties about sharing their knowledge and even making mistakes from which we can all learn. In our community, you will always have selfless help from all colleagues, extraordinary mentors who have many years of experience and are happy to share their knowledge with you, and a happy, friendly working environment.
System Verification hub in Warsaw took part of the tech conference test:fest in Wrocław, Poland. Many innovative IT projects are created in Wrocław by experienced specialists with enormous knowledge. A perfect place for System Verification to be, to get inspired and share knowledge in the local area. We took the opportunity to present how testers generally work in workshops and panel discussion, since you can voluntarily participate in the conference as one of the speakers.
Since end of March, I can proudly say, that I am finally part of the System Verification Team. Why finally? Well, from the moment I got to know System Verification, until signing my Internship Contract and having my first day working in our beautiful Office in Bonn, some time has passed.
Sven Ullstad, one of our great consultants at System Verification, wanted to make blood donations become a natural part of our everyday work life. He suggested an initiative that now allows System Verification employees to donate blood during work hours.
Meet Julia, the project manager for SYVE Around The world.
We have now walked for a little bit over a month in this year’s set up, together we have at this time walked close to 60 000 000 steps with 139 participants. This year we had set the goal to walk around the world. This is the second year we at System Verification arrange this type of internal walking competition. Read about last year here. Last time we walked 97% around the globe, before the first team reached the finish line in Stockholm. It felt a bit like we stumbled on the finish line, which inspired this year's set up.
We have walked virtually through Italy, Lebanon, India, Vietnam, Indonesia, South Africa, Argentina and soon we will pass France before we will reach the finish line in Croatia, Spilt. Why Split you may wonder? This year all our regions will finally meet in person again, at our annual conference, that will actually take place in Split! A perfect opportunity to also have an award ceremony for SYVE Around The World. All the teams are mixed with colleagues from all our hubs around Europe and I think that this will really ‘’tie up the sack’’ for this year's competition.
Last week our Talent Acqusition Team hosted a student event, at our HQ in Malmö. They invited students that are currently studying to become software test engineers at EC Utbildning in Malmö. This program and System Verification’s niche are very aligned, and we are happy for our continued collaboration with EC. System Verification has employees that has studied this program before, both newly graduated and some more experienced. A perfect match for future opportunities for students to land a matching job and for us to connect with these talents.
The evening consisted of interesting and insightful panel discussions together with some of our expert consultants and our very own doctor in Software Quality Assurance, Magnus C Ohlsson. Before the event the students had submitted what they were most curious to know about test, QA and the role as consultant. Resulted in different topics and discussions - both on a more technical level but also everything from agile methodologies, qualities as a tester and different roles within QA.
With amazing food and drinks that was served later we had a great time. The evening continued with some contact-making mingle with our experts and the students.
